ORIENTATION TO HEALTH CAREERS - HIGH SCHOOLS
COMMUNITY HEALTH SERIES
High school students from Council, Cambridge, Midvale and New Meadows were invited to participate in a two-day exploration of Health Careers, funded by the Idaho Bureau of Rural Health and Primary Care and facilitated by Adams County Health Center in partnership with the Idaho Area Health Education Center. The goal of this State-funded program is to get more rural students interested in a career in medicine, and returning to a rural community to practice. Students had an opportunity to investigate careers in Clinical (Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse, CNA & MA), Dental, Optometry, Psychiatry, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology and so much more. Hands on demonstrations were engaging and students were able to discuss education and career options with providers. The next OHC is scheduled for the beginning of October, 2017.
Our team of healthcare professionals travels to each school in our service area every year for FREE dental screening, vision screening, immunization record checks and sports physicals. You may contact us at 253-4242 to find out when your school is scheduled to participate.
